Sarah Kurien |
Around six years ago, Bangalore-based artist Sarah Kurien, started out on a journey to explore other mediums of art, after an invigorating course in stained glass art. That's when she discovered her passion in creating beauty using pieces of glass and ceramics, envisioning the bigger picture and became a self taught mosaic artist.
In September 2012, she opened her own store, Tesserae (the word refers to small blocks of stone, tile, glass, or other material used in the construction of a mosaic). Look at these beautiful examples of her work!
The gaily-decorated store (housed in a quaint cottage with hot pink walls outside and bright yellow walls inside :) sigh! look at these pictures!) in
Koramangala
offers mosaic-based home accessories like intricately
designed table tops, lampshades, mirrors, trays and garden accessories
done in ceramic tile, stained glass and pebbles. Sarah has even added
the mosaic twist to unexpected items like chess boards and nameplates.
These products are colorful, cheerful décor additions.
If you visit Tesserae's FB page, you will see a gorgeous before-after set of pics - custom mosaic work done on an apartment balcony.
What a happy place that got transformed to!
